SSS: Days Five + Six

9 Sep

More Self-Stitched-September catch up.

Day Five

Sunday was pretty boring. This top is a breast cancer charity tee from Glassons a few years ago. Each year they collaborate with different local designers and donate $10 from each sale to the Breast Cancer Research Trust.

Originally, the shirts were only available in a crew neck – the look of which doesn’t work on me so I hacked out a scoop neck and slit the sleeves for good measure too. Paired with a repeat of my New Look 6190 trousers which believe me you will be so bored of by the end of the week let alone the month, that’s how often they get worn.

Top - Asos; Self-stitched Skirt - BurdaStyle Jenny; Belt - Glassons; Tights - We Love Colors; Shoes - Payless ; Bag - Standbags

Monday, was the opposite. I tend to over compensate for how much I dislike Monday mornings with colour.

The top is actually a light cotton dress I bought online from Asos. The skirt is my BurdaStyle Jenny muslin.

The shoes I bought from Payless 5 years ago when I was living in Vancouver. I call them my ugly shoes as they looked like something your grandma would buy when they were in the box but turns out they go nicely with just about any outfit.

The bag contains most of my life – including a padded laptop compartment. It weighs 10 tonnes and my chiropractor hates it but I’m too lazy to carry a handbag and a laptop bag all day.

I LOVE the jenny skirt. The fabric is great and it really suits you. Love it paired with the yellow top too.

Love the skirt all finished, the fabric is great and looks perfect teamed with the belt!
I’ve always wondered what the quality and website colour accuracy were like on We Love Colours, would you recommend them?

The colours are pretty close on the website and I do love the ones I’ve got. The only downside is they seam to have less elasticity than other tights and so they sag a bit around the ankles. Much more so than regular nylons, so it’s a bit of a trade off.

In agreement with Rachel above. Love the skirt! And paired with the bright yellow too.

Looking great, I really love your Jenny!

That yellow with the jenny is awesome! And i love the belt. I’m on a hunt for a wide brown belt and will likely give in and buy the brown version of a wide black belt I have. It’s the right width, but woven, which I’m not a huge fan of….

Love the printed skirt – looks fabulous with the bright yellow top!

That is your muslin? It’s great! I love the unusual color combination. I have a pair of grandma shoes, too. I end up wearing them all the time.

Thanks for the lovely comments, guys.
@lizajane: Yay – go the Grandma shoes!
@patty:I know what you mean abou searching for the right belt – I looked at so many before settling on this one but even that isn’t quite right – it’s designed as a hip belt for girls less curvy than myself so it gaps a little. I had one that I just loved but I wore it so much the metal buckle snapped in half.
